Gazing through the weathered glass
Upon tenscore and fifty past
With the train of freedom vast
Enduring every dire circumstance
Let the sunshine patriot fly
And with the craven cynics hide
As Truth resumes her faithful ride
Withstanding the tumultuous tide
Liberty -
The noblest creed
Though marred too oft by foul deeds
Shall not perish from the earth
If posterity proves its worth
In Liberty are All conceived
Love thy neighbor, do what thou please
Seek not Ignorance to appease
Nor heed the Demagogue’s decrees
From bloody Bunker Hill
And gallant Gettysburg
The Spirit moves us still
To make good the words:
“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. - That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed…”
